Tea-based  natural energy drinks have a much higher antioxidant capacities  and polyphenol concentrations than non tea-based energy drinks. Known as the “Immortal Health Elixir” by the Chinese and originating in the Far East around 2,000 years ago, kombucha is a beverage with tremendous health benefits.

Kombucha is a fermented beverage of black tea and sugar (from various sources including cane sugar, fruit or honey) that’s used as a functional food. It contains a colony of bacteria and yeast that are responsible for initiating the fermentation process once combined with sugar. After being fermented, kombucha becomes carbonated and contains vinegar, b-vitamins, enzymes, probiotics and a high concentration of acid (acetic, gluconic and lactic), which are tied with the following effects:

Naturally Sweetened Soda

If you’re a newcomer to the smarter soda revolution, you may be wondering what all the fuss is about. Soda is soda, right? Not quite…

Among many differences, the most contentious is sweeteners. Conventional sodas will typically use sugar, high fructose corn syrup, or aspartame or even a combination of these. According to studies, they are not only bad for your heart, liver, blood vessels, brain, and skin, but also affect your metabolism and energy levels.

We knew there was a better way.  Our sweetener system uses a combination of three naturally zero calorie sweeteners: stevia, monk fruit and erythritol. Stevia is a plant-based sweetener that doesn’t affect blood glucose levels. Monk fruit is a super sweet, gourd-like fruit that also has no effect on blood glucose levels. Erythritol is a naturally derived component of fruits, veggies, and grains that’s obtained through fermentation.

We’re not stopping at sweeteners though! This summer, we received our Non-GMO Project Verification and went color free! This means that all Zevia sodas are now free of caramel coloring and are clear in color, even Cola and Ginger Root Beer!  Certified vegan, Kosher, and gluten free too!
