Super Greens
When it comes to our diet, green foods are arguably the pinnacle of natural nutrition. Also known as green superfoods, they’ve been a staple of the human diet for thousands of years and are one of our best sources of nutrition.
Even with all of our advances in science and technology, we still have yet to produce anything that rivals the healthy power of greens.
Not only are green foods powerhouses of nutrition, they also help to alkalize the body. Green foods can help support a healthy body pH, a concern for many Americans today due to the high acidity of many popular foods and beverages.
Ideally we should consume 3 to 5 servings of vegetables a day, but the fact is many of us don’t even come close. This is where supplements can help.
Filling in the blanks
While there’s no substitute for whole foods as part of a healthy diet, eating healthy isn’t always feasible. Green supplements, like all supplements, can help you get the nutrients you may be missing when your healthy diet falls short.
As mentioned above, green foods are powerhouses of nutrition, and they often have a comprehensive array of nutrients that complement one another and work together to support good health.
- Spirulina - Spirulina is a type of blue-green algae that’s rich in beta-carotene (vitamin A) and vitamin B-12, and has naturally occurring protein and gamma linolenic acid (GLA), a popular fatty acid with numerous health benefits. In addition, Spirulina has naturally occurring minerals, trace elements, cell salts, amino acids and enzymes.
- Chlorella - Chlorella is a single-celled microalgae that has naturally occurring chlorophyll, plus beta-carotene, mixed carotenoids, vitamin C, iron and protein. Because chlorella in its natural form cannot be easily broken down by our body due to its tough cell wall, the cell wall in our high quality chlorella supplement has been broken down mechanically to aid digestibility.
- Kelp – A member of the brown algae family, this large, leafy seaweed grows in dense "forests" in the colder waters of the world’s oceans. Kelp has been used for centuries as an important nutritious staple ingredient in Chinese, Japanese, and Korean cuisines. It’s also an excellent source of iodine, which has been shown to be essential for healthy thyroid function.*
- Alfalfa - Alfalfa is a green superfood that’s abundant in vitamins, minerals, and chlorophyll. It naturally has balanced nutritional content and is an excellent source of vitamin K. It’s been consumed since ancient times and has been used by herbalists world-wide for centuries. The name “Alfalfa” is Arabic in origin and means “Father of All Foods”.
In addition to single green food supplements we also offer several combination products including Fruit & Greens™ tablets and powder, Green Phytofoods Powder
